FESCH.TV INFORMIERT:

Walking to Present is a unique piece, made to placed on a site where history has happened. Dance artists inscribe themselves into each space, calling upon spectators to experience movement and travel through a sensory and intellectual experience. We refresh our own bodies of knowledge with each step, reframing what it means to be present with all its sensorial details. We score the site via site-specific dances, as participants and performers embody time and place while walking to present.

How are we all making marks in time? How are we living, breathing momentary monuments? How do we imprint time as we move through history and what is the weight of our own footsteps on tomorrow?” Walking to Present was originally commissioned by the DANCE München Festival in 2021. Due to the continued COVID-19 outbreak, the work will now be performed in the festival in May 2023 at Olympiapark, the site of a Trümmerberg, a mountain made out of the rubble of WWII. It was presented in Brooklyn by BPL Presents (Brooklyn Public Library) June 3, 2022 as a journey from the Center for Brooklyn History into Cadman Plaza.
