When the Snow Will Melt – Trailer

Our memories carry out a life cycle parallel to the passing of the seasons: from spring we arrive in autumn, characterized by the strong desire to chase after fragments of life that winter will inevitably take away. This work stands as a hope that not everything will vanish forever into oblivion and that those who leave us make sure that something of them inevitably remains with us.

This short film has been written as a stream of consciousness, the memory’s journey in the past, which consists of discontinuous flashes, is characterized by the elusiveness of our memories and the mistakes we make when we try to remember something. So, the memory’s journey is associated to life’s journey: Spring represents the blooming of our memories, Summer is characterized by indifference and lightheartedness towards the memories we don’t seem to care about at the moment; Autumn as blurring and deterioration of memories and the consequent effort to revoke them, Winter as the end of the life cycle and the disappearing of our memories, but also as a new beginning with the bloom of another Spring. In terms of audio and sound design our memory has been compared to a recorder which is capable of writing our memories into a tape that can be threatened by the deterioration of passing time which will make it unlistenable. That’s why I have built a Max for Live device to degrade sounds and layering them in order to achieve a state of confusion. The short was made from 2017 to 2020. Filming ended in November 2020 not without difficulty. The pandemic has in fact made everything more complicated due to the limited possibility of travel. I personally took care of the whole process, both in terms of audio and video, from production to post production.
